Collingwood suffered a heavy defeat to Footscray in its round two VFL fixture on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs burst out of the blocks, kicking six goals to one in each of the first two quarters. While the Magpies improved in the second half, the damage had been done. The Pies eventually fell by 72-points, 6.4 (40) to 17.10 (112).

The Pies saw their rotations stretched from early on. Jack Madgen left in the opening minutes with a concussion, while Tyler Brown didn't feature in the second half because of a shoulder injury.

In positive news for the Pies, Daniel Wells and Brayden Sier each made it through their return games. Sier was busy in the middle as always and set up a goal early for Josh Daicos, while Wells was composed with the ball and finished with a last-quarter goal.

Ben Reid gave a strong contest whenever called upon and hit the scoreboard in his second strong performance in a row.
