Collingwood has suffered a 55-point defeat against Richmond at the Holden Centre on Friday night.

The Magpies simply failed to convert in the crucial moments of the match and couldn’t stand up to Richmond’s pressure, eventually going down 11.14 (80) to 4.1 (25).

In wet conditions, the Tigers were quick out of the blocks with goals from Connor Menadue and Toby Nakervis in the opening minutes before back-to-back majors from Oleg Markov.

The quick paced Tiges took a 22 -point lead at the first major break whilst the Magpies were limited to a goalless first term.

But relief came early in the second quarter for the Pies when Anton Tohill booted their first major for the day with Campbell Lane soon to follow.

The Tiges continued to dominate in the third with outstanding pressure and a consistent work ethic across the field.

The Pies lacked urgency and failed to make the most of their opportunities, which subsequently saw them suffer another goalless third term.

Andrew Gallucci and Alex Woodward both booted majors midway through the final quarter but that was all that the Pies could manage for the remainder of the game.

Despite the disappointing result, Adam Oxley was exceptional collecting the most disposals for the match (30 disposals) as well as 24 kicks.

Tim Broomhead put his experience on display with 25 disposals and 10 handballs.

The Pies will now prepare to meet the Northern Blues at Marvel Stadium next Sunday.
