The Board of the Collingwood Football Club wishes to re-state its support of a First Nations Voice to Parliament.

At the time of announcing its position in March this year, the Board said:

“The Collingwood Football Club has been on a journey for a number of years now to better understand its past in order to be better for the future and the Board’s support for a First Nations Voice to Parliament is a natural progression of its commitment to doing and being better.”

The full statement issued in March can be found here.

The Board continues to lead the Club to ensure it continually progresses and improves its culture, systems and structures to result in meaningful change for First Nations people and everyone at Collingwood.

The value of the learnings we have gained at Collingwood through the implementation of the Do Better recommendations and deep listening through our truth telling process has made us all better.

While we still have much to do, we will benefit from continuing to listen to and learn from our First Nations people at Collingwood – to seek their advice and to better understand First Nations culture and barriers.

Importantly, our newly completed redevelopment of the AIA Vitality Centre has enabled us to recognise the contribution of First Nations players and staff to our history through the establishment of a dedicated, safe cultural space and later this year, our Members will be presented with a proposal to amend our own Constitution, to recognise First Nations peoples’ contribution to Collingwood.
